I don't know about you, but I get a little nervous when I need to do something new for the first time. Especially if it's a big deal. And giving birth is just that - a big deal! I want you to enter your birthing experience calm, curious, and confident. I want you to feel safe in your body, and safe with your support system. We get there with a lot of different teachings and tools.
Today, I'm going to focus on a really useful tool. One that will help you to really believe in yourself. One that is tailored exactly to your emotional landscape. The Birth Affirmation!
Tip #1 Make a List
Think about birth and babies. What worries you? What are you afraid of? What do you doubt within yourself? Sometimes it can feel really good to say this stuff out loud. It can take some of the power of it away. If you feel triggered when you make your list, stop, breathe, and care for yourself. If you feel safe, write the list with a loving safe person. Get additional help if you need it!
Tip #2 - Explore Affirmations That Fight Your Fears!
You want to find affirmations that directly go against your fears. Affirmations that tell the truth to the deepest level of you. You can google birth affirmations. You can also find examples in your family sayings, or in your faith. Or you can make up your own! Take your time and find the one(s) that resonate with you. Then make it look great!

Tip #3 - This One is My Favourite!
My favourite birth affirmation is 'My Body Was Made for This'. This affirmation speaks against the common fear that most of us struggle with. That somehow we won't know what to do, that we can somehow do it wrong. No. Your body knows what to do! It really really does. It has complex physical and hormonal and emotional systems all ready to go. It's been preparing since the day that you were born! Let your body lead the way.
Tip #4 - What to Do With Your Affirmation
Your Birth Affirmation was not designed to sit in a scrapbook, or a drawer. Nope. It needs to be put somewhere, like your bathroom mirror, where you can read it out loud to yourself several times per day. Look yourself in the eyes, and tell yourself, "My Body Was Made for This!"
Tip #5 - How Does This Affirmation Change Anything?
We believe things we are told, if they are told to us often enough. Especially by a trusted person. Let's use this superpower for good! Tell yourself the powerful truth, using your Affirmation. And let it change your beliefs for the better. Let it help you to enter labour unafraid, believing in yourself. Because your body really was made for this!
There are Many Ways to Birth Confidently!
Affirmations are just one of the ways to enter labour with confidence. My prenatal education is unique. It not only tells you all the essential things about birth and babies, it helps you to practically prepare for contractions, using the power of love. It helps you to prepare for bonding and breastfeeding - again, using the power of love!! I hope you'll join me for a fun, action packed, and informative prenatal education session!
